Hi.

I want to update the organization field in the whois record for each of my domain names as follows:

"MyCompanyName.com - This domain may be for sale"

Currently, I don't have any information in the organization field.

(1) Is it okay to put this in the WHOIS for my domains? Are there any negative legal implications? I read that it can help sell domains and I've learned that I'm getting a lot of WHOIS inquiries on my domain names.
(2) If I add my organization name, my registrar wants me to certify that the organization is the registrant of the domain name and I am authorized to act on their behalf. Are there any legal implications if I agree to this?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

We would recommend to instead park your domain and mention a selling price for your domain. People usually browse domains first and then check Whois. So your website would convey that this domain is for sale.

Having this information in the Whois information may have other repercussions.

If you would like to discuss this further, PM us.

Sure, why not. Make it easier for anyone to establish a claim - whether valid or not - against the use of your domain in a potential UDRP.
