closed urgent advice needed: qnation.com

I grabbed qnation.com a couple days ago, and the day the whois info was available (yesterday), I got an offer for $250 on it. I researched the whois, and this same guy also owns the .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us... All registered within the last few weeks.

FYI, I believe "qnation" is short for either QuakeNation or QueerNation, but I'm not sure what he wants it for.

Anyways, so how bad should I stick it to him since I'm pretty sure he _really_ wants this domain?

If he can offer $250 on the day the whois became available he can probably offer more. Counter with $750-$1k and see what response you get - you can always pitch lower if necessary.

Advice that used to be popular around here seems to be out of fashion lately, but I'll offer it anyway because I believe it is sound.

Do not value this domain based on what you think this buyer will pay. Value it on what you believe it is worth and what you would be happy getting from it if this particular buyer lost interest.

If he gets scared away by your counteroffer or $1000, will you accept $500 from somebody else? $300? $250? Figure out your number now, get comfortable with it, then stand by it when you go out and market it.

Don't think of it as "sticking it" to this guy. That is the wrong attitude. Consider yourself lucky to get a strong offer for a mediocre domain. If you would be okay with $250, counter for $400 and be happy with whatever you settle on. If not, build your case based on criteria other than his offer, and propose it to him as your logic for the asking that price.

I agree totally that if I scare this guy off, then I'd probably not sell it for a while, and not at a 1K anyways. And "sticking it" to him was a poor attitude. Thanks MovieDomains for the good advice.

I agree with the 1K offer...he owns all other TLD's
(except the golden one)...he's definetly developing some web real estate...can't go wrong getting a professional appraisal either...

QNation.con - I believe he is after QueerNation.com, sorry to disagree with the board but I would look for 3 to 5K and settle somewhere in the middle.
