I have been approached by someone (who runs a software company and buys/sells domains as well) who wants me to give him a price for the above domain.

Could anyone please give me some indication as to the price I should be asking. I have something in my head but value all of your opinions.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Regards, James

Run; don't walk. The name is worth less than zero and there is a high likelihood that this is a scam. These people target low value domains. You just saved money. Don't take the "less than zero" statement personally....when I first started I bought some names that were worth less than that.

So I ignore the email ? Or do I get back to him with a silly price and see what he says....or perhaps email to confirm his interest ?

Any ideas ?

Hi James, be very cautious and sceptical when contacted like described. I was also contacted some time ago by a scammer along similar lines (see letter below). This particular scam is covered on Sedo as well at http://www.sedo.de/forum/?task=showthread&thread=991&tmp=&start=20&tracked=&partnerid=&language=e

Hello,

Are you still interested in selling your domain name? I saw it listed for sale.

Did you get offers from other people?

I need to know your desired price. Please don't ask to make an offer. Just email the desired price.

I run a software company. We develop client-server systems and databases in Oracle for a local company. Buying and selling domain names is not my main business. Just another way to invest money and make additional income.

is he asking for an "independent appraisal?" This sounds like a scam...
