My registrar (NameScout) is saying a 90 day policy is in effect before a .us name can be transferred to another registrar, or to another individual.

Information at nic.us seems to contradict this, calling for a 30 day freeze:

http://nic.us/faqs/index.html

"When can Registrant domain and contact data be modified after .US FCFS live?"

"NeuStar policy is that the successful Sunrise Registrant Domain Names and Contact Information must be locked [ServerUpdateProhibited] set for 30-days after FCFS live. The purpose of this lock is to discourage speculators from transfering ownership."

Any thoughts on this? I would like to transfer at least one domain to another owner asap.

What can you expect even a .com is 60 Days before you can transfer, for a new reg.

But you can change the whois.

Surprise! My registrar has noted this "recent update" in Neustar.us policy for .us names, and now will allow ownership transfers after 30 days. Registrar changes are still 90 days, I believe this policy may be set up by individual registrars.

Moral? Don't take no for an answer!

If other .us owners are having this same problem, point your registrar to the actual Neustar.us policy:
