Looks like the case was updated since yesterday with new info. Indeed, there was a $1077 fee and she pleaded guilty. Public defendant must be feeling really good. That's your tax dollars put to a good cause, not.

The next thing to find out is whether she legally changed her name (doubtful) or if the court failed to use the information submitted by her aunt over the phone, under oath.

I did indeed read all the minutes prior to you posting.

Essentially, three felonies - 2 grand theft and one impersonating an attorney. "NOLO-CONTENDERE" entered on all three counts. Pretty much boiled down to time served and fine, community service, restitution (???) and no contact with complainants.

The name thing is intriguing, from the curiosity point of view.

Raider, what I don't understand is if the deal is ongoing, how is she out. Without the jury minutes, we won't know.

She was either bailed out or released on her own recognizance.

From looking at the case details, the first appearance was when bail was set, the second was the arraignment where the charges are read to her and she enters a plea before a Judge, Her public defender can also request during that hearing that all charges be dismissed for one reason or another, this rarely happens and the trial date is set. So from the Aug. 27th to the trial date is when the negotiation takes place. How do I know? I was fortunate to see my uncle at work when he served on the bench at LA Superior criminal court.

interesting...I was just reading that in the State of Florida, a previous plea a nolo contendere can be used against an offender and can be used as a prior conviction in future sentencing. If she is spending anytime in Florida, she had better stay straight or then the plea will be tossed out.

looks like several states treat the plea differently. My "indiscretion" days had me pleading nolo contendere to a speeding, er...racing, charge. The plea was accepted, I paid court costs, and nothing on my driving record. I was lucky, lucky, lucky I did not have the vehicle (my father's) and my license taken away. In that instance, the judge asked the State Trooper about my demeanor and if I was cooperative. The Trooper spoke favorably on my behalf which obviously swayed the judge to accept my plea.

100 hrs community service, $1500 bail and 4 years probation, all amounting to a slap on the wrist... I remember not too long ago repeat offenders almost always received jail time, are the prisons really that full?

PANAMA CITY — Authorities are looking for a woman who allegedly tricked a woman out of $1,000 by pretending she was a lawyer, according to a release from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Andrea Deluca, also known as Starlita Patrice Similian, Star Similian, Jamie Similian and Patty Similian, allegedly rented a downtown office and posed as an attorney. A woman reported her to the Sheriff’s Office after Deluca accepted $1,000 to represent her in a civil matter and never completed any work, authorities reported.

Investigators learned Deluca is not a member of the Florida Bar, but she is wanted in the state of Texas for grand theft. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 230 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair and deformed ears and feet. Anyone with information on Deluca should contact the BCSO at 850-747-4700.

Note that they fully know her aliases AND that she is wanted in the state of Texas for grand theft
Something tells me Texas is going to get their pound of beastly flesh from this cretin and they're not going to be so lenient either.
