I know that if you are writing a paper, and you use someone elses content, you have to give credit to the author...

Can you use informational content from an informational site, if you give credit to the publisher?

If the owner of the informational site knows just little about SEO, he/she will say NO.

I believe you can use a snippet of the info with a link to full story on the original site (similar to rss). You can't cut and paste.

Best practice is create new info based on various sources. You can always use them for research but not plain copy.

Thanks for the help guys.

What about ebooks with resell rights... does that entitle you to post the content on your website?

Most ebooks with resell right have terms/conditions.
Usually, you can not alter or use content on web site.

Master resell right ebooks - you may alter/modify as long as
you meet terms/conditions.

Some Master resell right ebooks plainly say you can do what ever you want with it.
