Prediction after seeing the last traffic conference. Most domains unless really good Top Shelf domains usually go for $5,000-$40,000.
UNLESS the domain is developed.
dPreview.com was purchased from my information for $5,000,000+ WHAT A SUCKY domain. What a great website.
Great Websites will always out sell, domains, sorry Frank Shilling and Kevin Ham. Domains will always be just domains. Great Content is priceless, domains will always have a ceiling price.
The $3,000,000 sale was for a developed website.
The $1.8 million was "at this point" (speculation at this point) the senior.com owner. At least that was what I was told, not from anyone on Monikers team.
So take values.com put a few thousand in to it, develop it to something that you love and it will sell for much more than $25k.
If you put in a reserve over $50k will not sell, IMHO.
The ------Fund.com owner put no reserves, and most sold for $10k-$30k each. I don't know if I would of done that my self but it was a great gamble and the domain owner won.
Very true!
At first I was a little bummed to see the low prices some of the domains went for in the TRAFFIC auction. Then I saw this:
Offers Turned Down:
Six.com $1 Mil
Scotland.com $3 Mil
PressReleases.com $2.5 Mil
Stuff.com $1.5 Mil
Slots.com $4.5 Mil
Draw.com $1 Mil
Commodities.com $1.75 Mil
Student.com $3 Mil
PuertoRico.com $3.5 Mil
DSL.com $1.5 Mil
HorseRacing.com $4.5 Mil
Cats.com $2 Mil
Dermatology.com $4.5 Mil
Naked.com $1.5 Mil
Meopause.com $1.5 Mil
Auction.com $4.5 Mil
OBGYN.com $1 Mil
I think this is a good reason to still believe in the value of great generic domain names. If just half of these were accepted, imagine what people would be saying about domain values. I'll bet it be more encouraging!
I agree with BonkersTwo, that you give values.com the best chance of bringing a high price tag if you invest a little time and money developing. Just my two cents.
Very nice name! I would buy it for 20k any day!
