I think it's worth a good lesson. I've had many good lessons myself and I've learned from each one of them.

That being said, I hope you're able to do something with the domain to offset your investment.

My take would be mid-$$ which actually amounts to reg fee...
Granted, some people like names like del.icio.us or blo.gs or whatever and are willing to pay big bucks but I think it's more the exception than the rule.
Personally I don't like keywords split in two parts because of the TLD,
veg [dot] as just doesn't sound right IMO.

Yes, we have all been guilty of loosing the plot at times. Unfortunately, at this time it would seem that most speculators have a very unrealistic view of where the market is heading. There is definitely going to be a shake out. I dropped all my .cc, .ws and even .tv. I have also dropped all my dot info and dot biz that are not sites. I would also dearly like to get out of .co.uk.

However, I am not investing in ASCII dot net or dot com either, as certainly the latter is starting to look a bit expensive apart from the Elite Domains that will go marching on through Seven Figures. Those will probably make considerable capital gains for sometime to come. The "stringanythreewordstogether.com" though are looking expensive from were I am standing.

Most people seem to be missing or totally misreading the biggest opportunity the Internet has seen since immediately after the release of dot com. The Internet over the next three years is going to be rolled out globally in a way that it never has been, so it will be accessible to all. That accessibility will require domains that serve the needs of the developing markets. Some have grasped the nettle and bought every single English keyword in dot IN, but I believe they are guilty of not doing their market research. Most of the rest are just like Ostriches with their head in the sand or hypnotised by the beat of the dot com drum!

Best Regards

This name has more of a chance to make this person money than many of the garbage names I have seen on this board. it is quite unique and I'm sure if enough people saw the name it could be sold for more than he paid for it. He likely won't sell it to anyone here....you know, the type that is looking to pay 10 times earnings (10 months LOL). Sometimes you have to think outside of the box, and this is just the type of name that fits that criteria. What is laughable today, might be an obvious moneymaker tomorrow. There is only one way to spell Vegas, and this fella has it. Unless he was the only bidder on the name it is obvious that someone else thought highly of it as well. I see a lot of names being sold on this board for their traffic......traffic that is 3 days old and of very questionable reliability. At least with this name you know what you are getting..... Good luck with it! If you contacted 50 casinos you could sell it easily. It generates interest, and that is evidenced by the amount of response it has gotten here. Shock the world and put it up for sale at 20K.....have a little fun with it. It's not life and death.

if you have a solid development plan and marketing plan you should be set

you may have over paid a bit, but if your happy and you got the name you want its all good

agreed ... no one likes the .as extension, i'd rank it down there with .sc ... but we all visit whois.sc don't we? every extension will have a couple exceptions to the rule and this might be one of them
