So now they got the industry "buzzing" with the news :D
Sorry, I could not resist the pun.

I am concerned that this means I will soon be priced out of generics. Is this an unwarranted worry?

This was actually a lease rather than an outright purchase, but still solid.

Smart investment by PriveCo. Inc. in my opinion.

They have immediately cornered an additional section of the market, what is more a secure section of the market that is now refused to their competitors to advertise on. Now if only other companies would realise the value of this kind of strategy, especially in what is likely to be a contracting market generally.

I don't think someone will lease a domain for 1 million.

The total is one million over time, but apparently it's a fairly short time period. More of a payment plan than a lease I suppose.

Absolutely not the case.......

Due to non-disclosure agreements, you just do not hear about these deals. I have had a 6 figure lease proposal so I am pretty convinced that 7 figure lease deals have been done many times. A company may be able to afford thousands monthly but may not have 7 figures on hand for a purchase.... thusly lease arrangements occur.

It was $200k down and then $800k over a fairly short period of time according to the seller. The $800k had an interest charge, so I guess I should have called it financing rather than a lease.

Interesting timing. I just agreed to sell a .com domain corresponding to a popular sex toy a few hours ago for $1200. The name of the toy begins with the word "vibrating" and receives 50K monthly searches on Google. I'll report the sale once it officially goes down.

If I were aware of the Vibrators.com news I could have made a nice selling point out of it. Shame on my ignorance :)

I'm starting to believe sex always sells wonderfully, even in the face of screwy economic conditions (excuse the pun).

Vibrators rock. Pun intended. ;)

It's a good thing if you have generics & want to live comfortably!
