ViewTube.com has just been sold via Sedo for 3,200 Euro.

Could this cause a conflict with YouTube?

Richard

My guess is that it will be a huge problem. ViewTube was regged in Dec 2005, and YouTube had their WM/TM/SM filed in Jan 2006. I think someone will need more than €3,200 to fight off the likes of Google, who will be rigorously looking after their IP rights after such a huge spend.

Personally, I wouldn't have paid $100 for VT today.

YouTube only works because the name was marketed. ViewTube would be quite similar to gbay or roogle.com, they just dont work without the marketing minds behind them.

Andrew, I really don't think any marketing will detract from what will be a TM infringement, if VT plans to broadcast internet video. The terms of the TM filing are quite explicit.
