Just curious,

What amount do you spend on average (each domain is different) to acquire a domain name?

if i want it, i'll spend what's necessary to get the domain

as one would have to examine the cost to acquire every name they ever owned, to get an average amount.

imo...

Domain names are not like chickens or oranges. One can spend anywhere from $10-$100,000

The average does not apply to domain names.

Biggie and Johnn both valid points. I've purchased names for $xxxx and hand registered names as well.

My thought though was that as a domainer, usually (hopefully) will carve out some sort of niche.

Maybe it's a hand reg domainer flipping available names, or purchasing higher quality names which likely command a higher price.

I assume that over a bunch of purchases it will likely skew one way or another.

But maybe I'm wrong on this one. Obviously each domain is different and no one says I'm willing to spend X for each domain they want to buy.

To calculate the average I'd have to go through thousands of acquisitions. There is a sweet spot, around $2,000. Max I've spent was low five figures.
