Do I need to contact every company that owns a copyrighted word used on my website?
ex. "Windows XP compatable"

1. Would I need to put a tm or a R after the "Windows" or "Windows XP"?
2. Do I need permission from microsoft to use "Windows XP compatable"?
3. Could I use the Windows XP logo?

ex. "a company name" or "TM word"

1. When do I need to get permission?
2. When listing a product for resale on my website, can I use product names and specs from packaging in my desctiption and/or review?

   If you are telling that some product is compatible with Windows XP, you are informing, no need to ask for permission, if you are going to use a logo from Microsoft, then you have to ask for permission
   
3. Could I use the Windows XP logo?
   
   Sure you can't

   When some user could get confused about being you that company or when you use some logo owned by a company

   You are using it to sell the product, so you MUST use the specs provided by the manufacturer, you are using them to sell the product, the manufacturer should be happy (if you sell their product, they'll earn more money)
