I am going to be approaching a company soon on a domain I own. Would like to know if any of you have some examples of letters you've written to companies about domains you've owned. I don't want to appear like I'm trying to put the "screws" to them. Just would like one of those, "Oh, by the way" kind of letters (if there is such a thing).

Some background. The name is a .biz, however it's a developed site/business that I will be selling. The company I am going to approach probably could care a less about the content on my site and the business behind it. The reason they would want this name is that they own the .com and the .ca. version of this name. They are very big in Canada, and maintain a lot of internet sites. It looks like they are trying to position themselves as the MSNBC.com of the north!!

Anyways, just would like to know if anyone has a copy of a letter I could use to send to this company, as well as your insights on approacing a compay about a domain name, they may or may not want.

Your talking about Global (CanWest) arent you?

Anyways,

The only advise I can tell you is try to get the best (or best few) email addresses you can get/find and dont waste it on "Customer Service" email.

You may also want to contact them via telephone 1st.
I know some domainers think that is best.

If it is CanWest,

this is thier corperate head office:
Corporate Head Office
CanWest Global Communications Corp.
3100 TD Centre, 201 Portage Avenue,
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R3B 3L7
Telephone: (204) 956-2025
Fax: (204) 947-9841

Keep in mind, CanWest is a large company in the TV, radio and other industiers around the world (UK/N America/Australia).

Saying that,

you may want to contact them at a more direct source (Global TV, owners of Canada.com)
GLOBAL TELEVISION NETWORK (Ontario)
81 Barber Greene Road
Don Mills, Ontario, Canada
M3C 2A2
Telephone: (416) 446-5311 or, 1-800-387-8001 (toll free)
Fax: (416) 446-5449

Hope this helps ;)
