What monitor resolution do you prefer?

It's not really a question of what resolution you prefer, you should use the native resoltion of the monitor. For example, mine is 1280x1024, and if I don't use that setting, it distorts.

ago my monitor started to make strange noises under that resolution. Therefore

1024 x 768 is usually industry standard. The techies in here are probably using nicer monitors or graphic cards than your normal customer would.

definitly glasses, a 17" should eaily handle 1024x768+ with no viewing difficulty.

btw: just to add a little to this thread. I think the most important part of your computer is the monitor, keyboard & mouse. Any PC these days will handle just about anything you want to do with it (unless you're into high end graphics) so make sure your input/output devices are of the highest quality if you're using your PC a lot.

If money is an issue then get a smaller CPU and a bigger (better) monitor, and fork out for a high quality keyboard/mouse.

I like everything small on the screen, i cant stand huge icons, i have over 100 icons on my desktop, i have a £25 CRT monitor from a computer fayre and it works fine, my PC has a decent specification, my monitor dont cause eye strain, i spend 6-10 hours + a day staring at it on average

There are different resolutions for wide screens than there are for standard screens. You should be able to adjust the resolution on your monitor to your own personal preferences. Some prefer a higher resolution that allows you to have a wealth of additional space on the screen. Others may prefer a lower resolution, which will obviously increase the size of the objects on the screen. The ones that prefer lower resolutions often have poor vision.
