LOL! You've missed the good old days when we waited for the minute (if not second) names drop and snapped it BY HAND. What a thrill!

My first was e-promote.com back in Dec 99 when the name was still cool :)

I just started using NW not too long ago, got my first name today Sexing.net , I know it's not a real word but it should be :)

Probably Moyobamba.com in 2000.

Someone was trying to sell it on afternic for US$300 plus so I registered Moyobamba.net (my first domain) and developed that.

I noticed Moyobamba.com didn't get renewed, watched it eagerly, and picked it up on the day it dropped. Currently being rented out for 20 soles a month (about US$6 lol).

Wow a sole is only $0.30. :)

you should never sell your sole

First grabbing by hand of a name as it expired: mythology.com, back in the day.

First successful snap on an expired name: buymakeup.com

EroGenius.com... snapped last year and...
Oops... is that expiring already? Crap. Good thing I looked. :)

My first Snaps got me BuyingDomains.com and SellingDomains.com on the same day (3 Sep 2001)
My first NameTrack (sadly no longer in business) .co.uk grab got me Newspapers.co.uk
My first NameWinner success was Home-Page.com
My first DropWizard success was Lawnmowers.net
My first ExpireFish success was 1912.net

The first I remember was megatoys.com using the old "have 5 browsers open clicking submit in each one at 3:30am and then clickin the back button and doing it again" method. Was a lot of work, but got it.

I regged mostwanteddomains.com in '98 but let it drop... :(

Actually... if we're talking "drop-catching", my first bleery-eyed lost-sleep catch was "GadgetGirl.com". I was checking it over and over like an obsessed fiend. I remember when the tell-tale sign for me is when NetSol stopped allowing the previous registrant to PAY for the domain's renewal via: http://www.netsol.com/payments/

First it would be the renewal price... $35, then it would be the full reg fee $70... then the request to renew would give back "no record found"...

I'd keep checking each day, each hour, until NetSol said it was available. Man that was torture. I think it was 1999... right around the time UltSearch got "Indefinite.com". I was going to go for that too, but I got distracted. I later succeeded on "TheDrawingBoard.com" though.

I remember getting really excited when I noticed Auto.com and Clear.com were dropping, and the registrants finally came to their senses.

[edit: to my horror, according to the whois, UltSearch didn't get Indefinite.com in 1999, apparently someone else got it and let it drop last year... that means I missed it twice! Doh.]

Well, you remind me of one day in the summer of '99 when I sat in front of my computer registering 33 China province/city .net/.org (yes, they are not .com's or I won't be here talking to you guys but chatting with Yun Ye :D ) just dropped off at NetSol, ALL MANUALLY. I finished these 33 top-priority names (took me more than an hour), went to grab a coffee and wondered if I should go for the other 3. Within an hour, they were all gone.
