What were these registrants thinking??

I would only consider buying the new extension to compliment one of my sites as a shortener - example if I owned somethingforum . com I may reg something.forum (but only if I fully developed the site)

I would not start a new start up with these new extensions and be held ransom later down the road from the guy who owned the .com

Also, after the scammers and spammers destroy the reputation of the extension by exploiting known brands, the search engines will have no choice but to burry them as far down as possible in the search results.
