What would you do? wants my domain

Just received this email...

"Dear ______
Its very shockedfull to me that recently you have registered a domain name "_______.com" which I choosed and searched on net very much time, and it becomes a disaster for me. I wanted to open a personal website with that domain name and my friends also liked that domain. But suddenly you have registered that domain. I dont know why do you buyed this domain as usual you dont create/hosted your site with it ( _______.com). I am from __________, i know that some people buy domain and they perked it for further incoming. But i dont know how much it will pay. You know as we are poor so we cant afford to buy such a domain with big amount. But i need this domain, i liked it, please give me the domain name " ______.com". I already created my site design with that name but cant hosting it for the domain. if you dont give me/transfer the domain "_______.com" then i have to re-design my site which will become very hard work for me. Please, i am requesting to you that, withdraw the domain name and tranfer it to me. Dont worry, if you want then i can pay the registration fee back to you. Just transfer it. If you want then i can register you a new domain and then transfer it to you. but ofcourse you have to tranfer your domain " ______.com".

It's a five letter pronouncable domain that I bought for that reason only. Not doing anything with it now, but liked the name. What would you do?

Tough one.
We are generally in this to make a little money but every so often this type of situation comes along.
I would dig little deeper and ask a few questions to ensure this is not a new tactic to acquire a nice name for reg fee.
That said this does sound legitimate and may warrant a reg fee transfer as new sites and generous practices are good for domaining and the internet as a whole.
Maybe this person would agree to host an ad / link for some of your other sites or your domain retail site??? A win-win for all.

Well this guy obviously wants this domain bad, but if it is something you would definitely want to keep for later, you can just tell him to get another. If you can let it go without much grief, then i'd reckon perk up the price to atleast 3x and offer.

He should take it at that price, as he wud still get a good deal imo.

Karma doesnt seem to exist in the domain game.. i've lost probably a dozen domains due to technical errors in the last 10 years..

Don't beleive the story unless you full check it out.. lots of people try these kinds of things with no real basis

I very much doubt he has a site for it; just trying to get a good name for nadda - the amount of times he mentions the name, it looks like a standardized email; he probably send 50 a day out!

This is business and the begger should have made a straight forward offer. I agree with other posts above about this, why would s/he develope a website without registering the name.

I have a problem with the beggars Not the homeless, the genuine ones. IMO he's pulling your legs. You could quote back but he is obviously looking for a steal, not a buy so I would not bother replying.
Besides there are still decent 5-letter names left. Even more in .net.
