I may have a buyer for one of my domains and I'd like some opinions on which is the best online escrow service to use. Thanks.

BigFart, thanks for the input. I don't know exactly how much it will be for yet, but I'm hoping 1K+. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

The only thing I wonder about with using escrow for domains is that the contact info can be changed instantly. What if after I transfer the domain the buyer puts in phony contact info and tells escrow.com that he never received the domain and they should not release the funds?

Both parties protected.

For example, you sell www.24up.net domain. The buyer agreed to pay you $5000.

Escrow will ask the buyer to deposit the funds.
Once Escrow received funds from buyer, Escrow will notify seller to transfer ownership.
The seller will initiate transfer.
Escrow will notify buyer that seller tranfered ownership.
The buyer will check ownership.
If the buyer don't response, Esrow will notify both party and will give update.
If the buyer is satisfied, Escrow will release funds to seller.

For any dispute, Escrow will do the negotiation and make sure that both party satisfied to the deal.

This process is actually explained in detailed when you're starting to sell a items.

Hope this help.

Escrow.com is priced reasonably and works well. I haven't found anyone better, quicker, or as easy to use. The only other one Ive used was Afternic's DNescrow, which they shut down and now use Escrow.com themselves. Although another more expensive choice at a $100 minumum escrow fee is sedo.co.uk.

I have used Escrow.com for 2 years. NO problems. Their prices are so-so. I have also used Escrow.ca. They are FAST too and better priced than Escrow.com (I think).
