What's the data source for wordtracker report? What search engine are they analyzing?

I believe the free version uses data from Altavista (or atleast it used to).

How many searches are performed each day?

Our database is entirely made up of Metacrawler/Dogpile queries for the past 120 days and makes up approximately 2-3% of the search engine market. No queries from the major search engines are passed through the metacrawlers; rather, the metacrawlers query the major engines simultaneously.
