I mean.. no-one bids until the last minute anyway & when they grab the domain, wouldn't it make more sense to have the auction then? I mean the bidders know that's when it ends & they are all online so why not have the auction then? 3-day process seems pretty stupid to me!

Sometimes people are not online every day. Enom moved their "pay for the domain" window from 3 days to 5 days, partly because of this reason....

it could be during auctioning, those drop catcher are accessing the domains for 3 days. If the domain is good, as a private bidder bid with everyone else. Well, just my opinion. And during the 3 days, they are also earning ppc income from the auctioning domains.

3 days is sort of weird...i am sure like myself others are sometimes excited about a domain when it drops..3 days later the excitement sort of dies..actually i think there will be more bidding if the auction was to be done right then and there..just a thought..

While a 5-day payment window is reasonable, I too agree that a 3-day auction seems unnecessary. For people who cannot make it when the auction nears its end, 1, 2 or 3 days don't make any difference: they just place their proxy and walk away.

I often forget to bid on names because there is such a LONG delay. Entering proxy bids are fruitless as in most cases someone will chip away at it whether it be nameadmin or another user.

I think the 3 day actions are there to ensure at least one weekday is included.
Not everybody works on weekends! I do :( but a few people don't.

And of cource in pool's case the 3 day auction builds the tense so you will outbid yourself by even a wider margin! :)
