I searched the db now and found only 2 trademarks for the telus/clearnet.

These indirectly TM the word Mike witht he chinese characters and the circle. As
far as I know nobody claims the word MIKE to be trademarked separately. If somebody
has info I should know please share.

Even with the trademark, I'd say you're bulletproof on this one as long as you steer clear of telecom stuff. If something is a preexisting term or name, any trademark on it has to be limited to a specific use or product category... even "virgin" or "amazon" have to do that (though their brand is strong and they can lay claim to many categories). You can also have common law trademarks if a brand is strong enough, but I doubt the MIKE wireless brand would make the cut on that one.

I hand regged Alliya.ca but Kyra.ca was regged I hounded the owner for a couple of years to sell it and there was no way they would. I just kept an eye on it and it ended up getting dropped and I to my surprise I was able to hand reg it.

Then a few weeks later I get an email from the previous owner all pi$$ed off at me. Seems they had not kept the email address uptodate on it. When it came time to renew they did not get the emails.

Snoooze ya loose.

Now if I could only get my name.....Mike.ca hmmm wonder who has that one and if they would sell it????
