The "premium" the writer was referring to was the difference in cost between 9.95 for an unregistered domain (new registration) and the 195.00 that was paid for the domain. As for your edit, sexist comments like that don't belong here.

The alleged premium was the stingy approach of wanting to pay "reg fee" - with Yahoo no less (ROFL) - versus forking out a month's salary of $3k

As for my comments they are based on my own personal professional experience - I don't expect them to be adopted by everyone, especially not by those that don't belong in the alpha male category.

Show me how many women are in the domain business. I can only count 4 or 5 on DNF. I am talking from experience: women buyers, like the article writer, are: demanding, holier-than-thou, ignorant, persistant, impolite, time-wasters. I'd rather haggle with a merchant from Iraq than to get migraines from an unorthodox buyer that busts my b@lls over a sale.

That is a typical comment from a male chauvinist ***
With your attidute there is a high probability that any woman you know would get the migraine and not you.

When you join the human race let the rest of us know, alpha's belong in the amazon, not in a civilized environment like dnforum.

Again, because you're a submissive, whipped person I don't have to be. I speak out my mind and that's from experience. You choose to personally attack me over your convictions. Have fun, I have better things to do.

It's nice to see where your reputation has gone. I brought up a point because of your words, you attempt to attack me because of your apparent sexual hangups of domination and submission. Truly sad. I've asked a mod to deal with your sexist comments, I've put you on ignore for the second time in a month and I give any mod/admin permission to delete this once they close this thread because you've taken it so far out of context.

This forum has gone downhill since the volunteer mods were around, they responded quickly to crap like this.

note - if you really do have better things to do then don't respond, since you're on ignore I won't see anything anyways.

Dude, you need to take a chill pill and come back when your daily red meat intake has dropped considerably. I posted with regards to my professional experience with regards to domain sales. If you like to twist and flip and turn the facts, this thread is open for everyone to read. I have no problem whatsoever debating you to oblivion; you might need some good medication afterwards though to recover from the bruises. If you don't like my comments, you can put me on ignore. And if you don't like DNForum, go elsewhere.

Shitty article, specially this :

To protect myself, I first registered a backup name by tacking on "the" to my first choice, making it www.TheGBDomain.com.

I may not keep reading.

Ok, I kept reading :

Trying to appear as small as possible ...<snip>
I did not identify myself as a Wall Street Journal reporter until the end of negotiations.

Geez, I'm in tears laughing ... !! :-D

More :

Then I decided to play my backup card and told them I already owned www.TheGBDomain.com.

ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ...
My preschool kids are laughing as well while I read loud ... :-D
backup card !?!? <ROFL>

Ok, the last one :
$195 is still a pretty premium to pay, given the going rates elsewhere.

Why most reporters are soo arrogant pigs ??
I mean, the guy wants to appear like if she know the business and certainly has no clue ...

Now, DomainCollection are laughable as well ....

With regards to haggling I find it rather annoying and in most cases I end up going the opposite direction quoting them an even higher price when they come back later. If you want a domain then you should offer a reasonable amount $500-$1,500 or else risk loosing it to someone else in the near future. I have observed several names at BuyDomains get bought under my nose while I was waiting for them to drop the price. Windows of opportunity are closing every single day.

Yes, exactly. She slags off all domain traders as cybersquatters - it still didn't stop her buying though.

I have to re-search a place a found some time ago, it was some "webmaster" forum related, where like 20 or so """"webmasters""" were talking about "stolen domains" to refer to domains that were let to drop and catched for someone else ....
:-(
:worried:
:ok:
