Actually Domain-Retriever hasn't worked correctly for months. It only returns a fraction of the domains that actually have link popularity. To my knowledge they haven't updated the software to correctly read the new MSN search format.

One issue with these is of course preventing banning. Many of these programs use proxy lists, but this is usually done in an illegal manner. If we could get a group that would be willing to run private collectors or proxies, we could make a site that would work well and quickly.

I'd be careful of some of these software link checkers. I ordered DomainInspect, which wash working (I thought) great, but the I got banned from google and alexa for spamming thier servers. Everything is good now, but needless to say, I won't be using that one anymore.

DR will be re-written in about 2 months. Once again, I do not own the
software, but Adam and I agreed that we should release an updated version
to address the problems which came as a result of changes in pretty much
every single search engine DR uses to extract data. I will be handling
the updates since I was the one who created it.

The software does not report valid link popularity information for most
domains as of about 2 weeks ago. This is due to numerous changes in
various search engines.

Before I start to rewrite the software, I wish to hear feedback on what
features should be added, what to automate so that you don't have to
do manually. I would prefer to hear from long term users since they
already have a system in place for whatever it is they do. Let me know
how to automate your life so you waste less time.

Like KTMWeb said, stay clear of unknown software. It will work great for
a month and then you'll be banned from every search engine. Of course,
if you have a dialup connection or a dynamic IP, it's no biggie. Keep in
mind that DR got around the ban for over 3 years.

I will try to patch up the link pop issue for now, but don't expect an update
for at least a week.

Ok, I'll wait for new feature suggestions!
