Just wondering, I thought I had read that it is "illegal" for a domain to have incorrect or improper whois information?

Is there any truth to this?

Thanks!

A domain should have accurate whois information.

I am assuuming you have found one that doesn't, you can ignore it or chose to complain to the registrar about it.

That is correct but I've never seen someone lose a domain by supplying false information and I see tons with (Acre code) 555-1212 as their phone number (that is a phone number for information in the USA). Quite a few others with 555 exchanges (never used for people's phone #'s).

I think .ca is the most aggressive registry with this,. though.

Thanks for the response everyone...

I am just trying to get some information about a particular site that may have "copied" most of it's information from a site owned by my employer... And the whois information is definitely not correct... We will check with the registrar if we have to to ensure that we are able to contact these folks...
