Why are WS extensions Dirt?

.ws is a rubbish extension. There is no Google.westernsamoa so the country code gets no weight in search should you want to market to samoans (the only thing you could do with this). Country code tlds are fine when there is a country code search engine. Where there isn't they are rubbish.

I own mobilephone.ws and have done for years. Paid the reg fee in the beginning and sat on it ever since. Probably one of the lamest domain purchases I ever made and all I paid was reg!

Good. I'll keep my domain for another 100 years and like a buried halfpenny piece it'll be worth something to someone one day.

Thanks for all the replies. We have quite a diverse popoulation in DnForum.

sdsinc's post about WS domain extensions only suitable to the West Samoa Marketing just doesn't sound right to me (nothing personal).

I was planning to use ws state codes, for example, instead of South Dakota use sdsales.ws for San Diego sales with pcp/adwords. I would think this could become quite profitable with the emphasis on local Markets recently.

Same use for other short ws extensions.

Shouldn't the polls come in "money making machine?"

Staggering extension,

Thor

Is this worth the work?

Thanks guys,

Thor

i don't like them coz they look like WC - Water Closet ~toilet

Search engines don't give a hoot what the TLD is.

Oh but they do!

The smaller search engines don't care what extension you're using, that is correct, but the ones that matter, like Google and Yahoo whom use complicated algorythms, set according to the population of the particular ccTLD for weighting, certainly do.

Yeah the search engines give some relevance to the ccTLD in addition to other factors like IP location language etc.
Nonetheless you can develop on any TLD - now is it worth it.
