I'm still wondering why .COMs are the best to register? Personally I know Polish market very well. And what I noticed is a fact that .COMs are not so exclusive here in Poland than .PL domain names. I don't know, parhaps because of register fee (.PL is much more expensive than .COM) or there must be another reason... Anyway for example "polishword".COM has only as high as 5-10% of the same "polishword".PL type-ins. I checked it many times!

What about your countries? Is .COM domain name more popular than your ccTLD?

Luke

PS. Sorry for my English. I'm stiil working on it ;-)

same here is in Germany. .de are more preferred extension compared to .com, if people hear just the website without extension, the first thing they try is putting .de at the end.

Same in Czech - a Czech company using .com is considered something less because .cz cost more.

But for multinational businesses is best to use .com

UK is the same (.co.uk) but many companies here also try and get the .com as well.

That's true.. .co.uk is real important here in UK (same as .de is germany etc) but I'd be reluctant to develop a site on the strength of an IDN. I'd want the .com also.

People from around the world talking about a common interest in domain names. Incredible, really. Another thing I find is that domainers are usually very polite and helpful people. I think when you take away governments and big business, you would find that most people are basically the same, except for a handful of loonies.
