Seeing the recent barrage of .me posts, thought I should post this.

Most of the veterans here are very helpful to less experienced players, but it's up to you whether you listen or not. We've seen this all before and heard it all before just to watch a new crop of eager domainers step up for the slaughter.

Not saying .me won't succeed to some extent, just that if it does, it will do so without me.

At the end of the day, I don't think any of us really care what you do with your money, we do the right thing by trying to help, that's all we can do. If you take our advice your chances of succeeding are improved, if you don't take it, well that works for us too because we have less financial competition for names that actually hold increasing value.

Good luck to all :)

I understand you and appreciate you but it's too late for me.
I have just sold all of my .com and .net and started investing just in .me
as I see the future in them and a much better ROI.
Wrong or not I go this way.........
Good luck everybody!!!!!!!!

I usually don't follow the sh!t extension herd, but boredom got the best of me one day, and I ended up registering 3 Montenegrin language based .me domains. I can't say they'll ever be worth anything, but I was shocked as hell recently after discovering they actually get type-in traffic from Montenegro.

As the ccTLD for Montenegro that makes sense don't you think? Mucho like-o ccTLDs that offer country specific goods or services, because denizens of many Countries seem to like them too. It's when you get into this vanity use of ccTLDs that a grey area is formed where great fits between name and ext can sell, but otherwise, just dead doggies.

Another shite ccTLD. People don't learn.

It certainly makes sense, but given the size of the country, and the age of the extension, it wasn't at all expected.

Some people get carried away and seem to forget that .me essentially involves domain hacks :)
Domain hacks are as old as the WWW but have seldom been sound investments. I would not expect to see them going mainstream.

No doubt there is potential but there are only so many keywords that really make sense. And the best are held back by the registry. It is a money making scheme.

PS: it is funny (but telling) to see the proportion of newcomers among the supporters. Previously released exts like .mobi .asia etc were praised the same way not long ago, and newbies got burnt too.
PPS: my sig says it all :ok:
