why should people be divided by ethnic origin ?

has anyone thought of that ?

isn't this directly conflicting with human rights ?

just got an idea- as everywhere you go, apply, anything you do..you have to state your "ethnic origin "

why is that?

I don't think I've ever had to state my ethnic origin. In Canada you never have to state what your ethnic origin is. When I cross the Canada/US border at least once a month both sides are only worried about booze,smokes and money. Oh, papers for my dog too. That's the big one - make sure the little dog that stays in the car has his papers. They don't always check my passport, but always check his vet papers.

all application forms like Jobs/Study etc required to specify your ethic origin, i think driving lessons too, don't remember

or like all online social networks "ethnic origin" is included in "Background/Value"

i mean how is that your skin colour related to your Background/Value ??

anyhow..just sick of being caucasian/white~ how is that im fukin Caucasian anyways~?

Don't really get that here. You look at the surname and can pretty much determine someones origin anyway.

well surnames can be changed pretty easily here for 12.99 £, buy online, by deed pool , takes two weeks to get legal new name

i know many people with pretty madeup names, nobody just questions it

even know two Thai brothers~ one is Dollar , another is Pound, not sure tho if they wasnt born with it, just nobody questions..

so basically thats not related

Arent all those forms in the UK asking for the info because its a legacy thing that was done years before. Is the data actually used at all, maybe in marketing targeting by ethnic tastes as another dimension?

Here in the great US of A we have this thing called "affirmative action" making companies hire a percentage of "minorities" to ensure a diverse workplace. While on paper it is a great idea but then you end up with lesser qualified minorities who end up with a job (and this includes police, fire, rescue, doctors, etc..).

The state of New jersey even gave an easier state police entrance exam to minorities to get their accepted applications higher.

In south Florida, good luck getting a job in the customer service area if you're not Spanish (well, Latin American) or can speak Spanish fluently.

Being a white male those "rules" have made it impossible for me to find a second job. Oh, you're not Spanish etc (yes, I've been told that before, by my own company when I applied for a promotion). I was even told in NJ that being non-Indian (that was quite the generalization, BTW) would make an IT career very difficult (and this was told to me by someone who was Korean).

They always claim it is for "research" and "statistical" purposes only which is complete bull$h!t companies are too afraid of a lawsuit so they are more than willing to hire lesser qualified applicants but get in their token minorities.

I even see it on my mortgage now. Than god my wife is 1/2 Latin American, she can claim that and it does make a lot of things easier for us.

A very good friend of mine (from high school) was from India. She did not want to apply for US citizenship, even though she had no intention of moving back to India. Why?
1) She didn't have to pay taxes
2) Being a minority and not a US citizen colleges would be (and were) more willing to give her very large scolorships.

(This was back in the early 90s, way before 9/11).

Even our government does this. I rarely see non-minority people working in government jobs (Post office, DMV, polling stations, libraries, etc..) even in very caucasian dominant areas.

When applying for some services I've been told "oh, you're white, you should be able to afford this, so we're going to reject your application".

And they say racism doesn't exist with our government.

People of Latin American Origin are as much Spanish as 'any' American is British.
Speaking a certain language does not make one of that ethnicity.
