Anyone know when WLS is supposed to go into effect? How about an authoritative source for the answer?

I seem to recall that Redemeption Grace Period was to go into effect for 6 months before WLS. RGP is just now going into effect. So, does that mean that WLS rollout is 6 mos from now?

He told me WLS is AT LEAST 6 months away.

Dotster and others are appealing WLS, so it is very unlikely that WLS will go into effect on July 25th. I'd bet 2004, if ever.

I personally think WLS will be implemented unless there is a technicaly issue or something. But to make my post short just as Microsoft has monopolized, Versign aka NSI will do the same in its own field and quite honestly as far as I see those who make decisions of whether WLS should be implemented or not see it as a win situation for themselves and those who want to implement it also see it as a win situation. Of course people like us and other small/mid size businesses have a loose-loose situation but those people up there dont give a crap about us. Just my .02cents..

Let's just say that Verisign will make a lot of money off the project. But it's a lot less than what you'd pay for a Drop Wizard spot or a Snap if that's good news. Which might make it more affordable for someone to buy up all the good ones and wait it out. It will change the expired domain game to a monopoly basically. No competition unless you are able to contact the previous owners and bribe them with high offers which will keep them from dropping the name in the first place. So either way you look at it game will be ruled by the rich and smart and verisign will cash in on it. But I think they have more in mind for the WLS than we realize.
