It is to my understanding that Verisign has bascially told Icann that they don't need their approval in regards to this matter. There is nothing in writing regarding drops....

This is why I think it will be a disaster if it gets implemented...

If there are no rules regarding drop policies why wouldn't other registrars just create their own wls for names registered through them? They could then sell of their good names and then turn the leftovers to Verisign.


Just a thought...Maybe somebody can provide some more insight.

Some of them do this already. They sell expired names inside before they make it to the normal drops.
