Wordpress Themes: Studio Press still recommended?

I'm new and am tossing up between StudioPress and Artisteer; any opinions/advice on these would be great. Adam recommends StudioPress is it still a good start for newbies?

I went with them just from a value perspective - lots more templates and only $39
