How true it is though... that "world" is used in the US sometimes the mean all of US (take WorldSeries.com- I see no international baseball teams playing do you?)

.com isnt synonim for INTERNATIONAL, when .us definately is in place of STATES. So I dont get your point..
 
OK, the Super Bowl winner is called the world champions. Is there any football teams from other countries?

The plural version "WorldRecords.US" is what you need.

ie: "sports.worldrecords.us" etc...
