Right now I'm working on compiling a list of the expiration dates of nearly all Yahoo/DMOZ names and was wondering how much value a list of names expiring for up to the next 6 months or so would be to anyone. The value of this would be that you could get early snaps on the names before everybody sees the lists derived from the zone file changes. Since this will be a large file, it's going to just be domain name then the expiration date. I want to make this affordable so I'm thinking of charging $25 for Yahoo or DMOZ or $35 for both (one time payments....not a service).

...Now the process of creating this list is somewhat tedious and time consuming even with the tools I have so I'd like to know from you guys if there is any interest before I proceed.

I think the Yahoo/Dmoz name grabbing craze is over. I may be
wrong.

The craze has definitely died down but I think there are still value in these names. DMOZ of course is used by google and I think the Yahoo directory will become more useful again since it seems to be more integrated into Yahoo's new search engine.

...I think I'm going to add a dictionary list too...that should always be in high demand I'd think

A list of names that will expire 6 months out - well, almost all names will expire 12 months out...

Maybe I am missing something?

What I mean is a list of names expiring for up to 6 months...... meaning names expiring tomorrow, next week, next month, etc. The point is that you can take the list and use it as a guide to find names before the zone files change and the whole world knows about it. The reason it's for 6 months is so the list won't be completely useless in a week or so.

you have to think that once you start a service like this, alot of people using your service will start to create their own service.

and on and on..

you must do something that's somewhat difficult to re-create.
