[culinary.com] is easily worth $100,000 --especially to an end user.

Any idea/ or guess as to its traffic?

If cooking.com or cook.com don't exist, maybe they can get more traffic. Otherwise they have to spend few thousands to promote their websites .. Well, If they spend $100K for the domain, I'm assuming they have money to spend on advertisement...

Does it not sound more upmarket than other alternatives?

Do you not think most advertisers like to promote a sense of quality, with that of value for money?

IMO $100,000 was a bargain for them - indeed value for money.
