Stop the bickering and stay on subject. I still haven't gotten the registry email either.

you should get an email from godaddy or registrar of choice stating they sent your application to ICM. ICM should email you within 24 hours of this to validate your application.

I think the registry have kept most of those that were any good?

i got some really nice ones. 2 of them are somehow stuck... shows in my godaddy account but states on my iphone app "your domain is pending updates and cannot be modified". as for the desktop, i can see the admin for the domains. Called godaddy and they said that ICM Registry had some issues and were not prepared to handle over 1,000,000 registrations. Obviously, you can check their whois...what a mess!

Once after this issue of the 2 stuck domains, ill post what i got... dont want to jynx anything... really great 2 domains.

What is this email that everyone is talking about?
I have no problem with Nameserver modification from Gandi.net, plus i pay $77.5 per domain. It takes me seconds to go from registering to being able to point nameservers. But 72hrs to propagate.

So I am confused what the email is. Unless you reserved before general availability...in that case good luck to you guys. The email will come.

Just picked up 4 more with the credit I got for the domains lost in the scuffle.

I am accepting nice offers too.

I'm kind of floored that people would buy two word domains at this point there was several single word adult oriented domains still available at launch even up to today.

I initially thought area codes or city names would be a good play, but thinking further about it the only kind of development & commerce potential is from escort business, which IFFOR will crackdown on at some point and isn't something any sane business person (domainer or adultbiz) would want to get involved with. The major city centers where a dating fling or hookup type of site would be viable were of course, reserved by ICM.

A very "meh" sort of launch if you could call it that. This was the grabbing of names that weren't quite high quality enough to try to get a landrush application in on for and yet might be worth the $100 in and of themselves. Sadly if you renew it for another year, your cost goes up to $200 and you are hopefully sitting on a $200 name - a name no one was interested for the $200 fee during landrush, hence its availability.

Names of any obvious value or keyword potential were as we all know kept by the registry. I still noticed quite a few that were still available after landrush closed and buy.xxx went up suddenly those names became reserved by ICM a day or two before general availability. I sort of feel sorry for the people who were collectively dumb enough to check the names they wanted on buy.xxx obviously ICM would be watching for search volumes and decide to keep anything of value they missed.

Seems like domainers bought the lion's share of these names... especially the not very good ones. That in itself doesn't really bode well for any new TLD.

Should be interesting to watch secondary market sales.

I tended to go for sex/gay city names, I have got some very nice Geo's but that's just my opinion.

As for the AdultJobs dot xxx , I think it's the perfect match for the extensio, time will tell.

Has anyone looked at the adult affiliate that icm are recommending?

Thanks RatherGood for your input, I will refine my purchases with the 1 keyword filter. I was thinking rather 3-5 years later but that is $500 each which is sizable. I guess developing one to pay for the annual renewals is priority.

I have received a name I have liked for a while that I thought would suit .xxx

I'm sure some of you will not like it and its a double word!

FilmClub.xxx

hello

i managed to get hostels.xxx.

what do you think?

thanks

What's the problem with double words if their relavent to the adult industry? I registered a two worder, but plan to use it as a discussion platform with affiliate links and linkbacks to all my other adult sites.

I am all set up now. I got my membership ID email from ICM and have the domains at parked.com now.

Rooms.xxx
CapeCod.xxx
Restaurants.xxx
Provincetown.xxx
FireIsland.xxx

Worth taking a shot at these.

I do like the roll out and registry TOS.

Seriously Rob, what were you thinking? Non adult keywords with an adult TLD? What exactly is restaurants.xxx, someplace to eat and have sex?
