Am I reading this right? I have to pay Moniker a monthly fee just to forward a domain to another domain?

I'm debating if I should transfer it to GoDaddy or not, it's a domain I'd rather keep with the most secure registrar.

Pm the Moniker rep here on the forum.

I've seen others beside Moniker that charge a fee for forwarding as well. Personally I've never had any issues with Godaddy and always use them.

URL forwarding is free in my Moniker account.
Whois privacy is $1/yr

Email Moniker support or a rep here on the forum. They will change it for you. Also, ask for the special DNF pricing too.

It's free at GoDaddy and on my reseller account. You can also 301 or 302 redirect, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

Best,

Justin

Hey Draggar - there is no cost for URL/Email forwarding with Moniker. Hit me up if your account shows something different!

Thanks

:?: And you think GoDaddy is a candidate for the "most secure registrar" because.....?

Maganerd...you read his comments wrong ... he was talking about Moniker not Godaddy.

I go into my account and domains, check the domain then click on URL FWD. Then, I see this:
Only (0) out of the 1 Domains you have selected have purchased the Url Forwarding Service Click here to order Url Forwarding Service for the rest of your selected names

Which takes me to a page where I can buy it for $6 a year.

Stewie is right. Right now for registrars I only deal with GoDaddy and Moniker (unless it is from a drop and then I really don't have a choice).

My higher tier domains (in my eyes - it would be laughable to everyone else here :) )are with Moniker while all of the others are w/ Godaddy (pricing).

Yep, I almost started this exact same thread about a week ago. However, I first contact Moniker about it and they were pretty quick to change it for me.

I still have to "purchase" the URL forwarding, but it charges $0.00 for it now.

Just contact Moniker support and they'll likely hook you up too.

I believe Moniker has several types of account.
They will charge everything for the "rich and famous".

Call them and tell them you are from DNF. You may be famous but not rich yet.
Let me know if you still have problem and I will hook you up with the "famous but not rich" group.

Why don't you use a host to do URL forward?

you can host the name and use a redirect code like this:
( in the head tag )

<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html">

Should be free to forward at Moniker if not, talk to someone about upgrading you to a shenanigan free account.
