Those domains are intended for first and last names. Only squatters would try to capitalize on them.

w.gates.name or williamgates.us?

By ICANN rules, you're not supposed to be able to register any domain with "com" (or any other TLD) as the second-level name. (Existing registrations like com.com were grandfathered.) This rule is apparently to avoid the confusion and cybersquatting potential that would come from being able to register names like amazon.com.name or amazon.com.museum.
