I remember the days when I was receiving $10 CPM and then that market fell drastically to $1.50 CPM until the market finally died.

I've been reading that the payouts for CPC are falling slightly as well. Could this be the end of CPC as we know it? Are advertisers figuring out clicks don't convert as well as they once believed?

Will it finally come down to CPA advertisers only?

I think CPM , CPC and CPA will co exist, but as you already mentioned the cost might become lower for CPM and CPC.

With the exception of AdWords/Sense, CPC is pretty much dead for monetization.
Too many people were figuring out ways to do arbitrage with it, or not bothering because it was too low to do arbitrage with.

If things go all the way to CPA only, then who cares?
Honestly, adapt or die. If you can't deal with a CPCless world, you should go back to the 9-5 grind because you clearly don't have enough imagination to make your own way.

Even if it goes entirely to CPA, new arbitrage schemes will start up.
In fact, it already has.

abitrage for CPA exists since a long time. Basically all affiliate networks are based on it.
