25 per registrant...

no catch... no purchase necessary...

> no transfer out fees
> you own 'em
> you can transfer them out at any time (after ICANN's mandatory 60-day window)
> regular renewal prices are $15 for one year, but I'm pretty sure NameSecure will make some good offers to keep these free .info's...

Thanks.

Yes... you can register up to 25 free .infos at both registrars... they are not mutually exclusive.

But namesecure require credit card information, don't really trust that for some that is free, maybe I am just paranoid.

Would be better if they did it like at Domainsite.

I agree..that might mean the same as my one register 1on1 online but will never use them again.

In the control panel i cannot delete my credit card info which dont understand I can at others but I know why now because unless you fax them and say dont renew, they automatically renew them

So I am assuming here that this place does the same so if you forget,, your screwed if you dont want them anymore.

But maybe I am wrong , but if its free the credit card thing to me is a no no.

and I ll say this I will be giving domain site some biz in return for the hook up,
maybe thats what they wanted too,, "everybody wants something" but 25 free no catch names" wont forget it.

I guess no response on why they want a credit card is coming anytime soon?

if anyone signed up let me know if its legit not just for me but for everyone here.

I signed up for it at both namesecure and domainsite.

It appears to be legit and all of the domains have been registered.

I'll make sure in a few days that my credit card was not charged.

their terms are not straight forward with the promotion, in fact I dont see
anything about it on their terms.

In the control panel is their an option to renew like at domain sites, or will they automatically renew without telling you, thats what you need to find out cause once you credit cards charge well that advertisement on front page might be history..Call me paranoid but this thread is alot smaller then the domainsite
one so either people are staying away from this offfer, or evryone is sick of .infos ..... not sure which.

Still no email from them in 24 hours or post from the original poster, mods should trash this thread...its obviously bogus.

I don't think that they should trash this thread simply because the site requires a credit card number and the person that posted it is new. I have signed up for it and it appears to be legit as I have said already. I understand if you do not want to take advantage of it, but there may be some people that do.

Mods can do whatever their hormone levels for that day are, but an awareness of the possible scams and damages that will arise from the Afilias (what do you expect from a moron registr... grrrr) give-the-shop-away promotion on shareholder value in this namespace should be red flagged by the members of this forum..

I don't know which stupid marketing agency or stupid marketing staff Affilias employed, but they sure as helll don't understand marketing communications.

Their KPI is simply bring the number of regs up to 3 million in one month or get fired. Stupid.

Hey bottomline I am looking out for me and everyone else here on the board, alot of good people here that have helped me tremedously and to me its looks odd, I mean look at the size of this thread compare to the one owen started regarding domainsite and theres alot and I mean alot of people saying thanks, etc, ditto or a few here.

To me if someone signs up and their first post is an ad and then theydont respond and their company doesnt email me knowing it would send them
100 s of people its odd.

Simply did not want to email me in writing that its free .

Or the post was just to get people and its legit but I have posted to hear from everyone on it and I think you and someone elses has so.

Not trying to start an argument here all I am saying is somethings up with this.

So to clear this up I ask any of the pros here that have been here awhile or the Mods to please post here or a new thread where people our confirming
it being legit, if it is they will for the safety of all the members here, simple.

NameSecure doesn't force you into auto-renewal like other registrars.

When you put in your credit card, there's a statement about why credit card information is collected on a $0 order.

The conspiracy theories in this thread are over done... this promotion is legit.

NameSecure has been in the domain name industry long enough: they were actually one of the few (along with Register.com) who resold for NetSol back in the good old days. Although I no longer use them any more, I honestly don't think their promotion would be anything even close to bogus.

Since member "pfeinber" (the thread starter) has not identified himself as affiliated with NameSecure, I take this as more a recommendation than an advertisement (even though it's posted in "Advertising and Related Offers"). And as such, may I render my observation. That it receives less overwhelming response than that started by another member "owen" (who clearly identifies himself with DomainSite) may simply lie in the facts that they a) require credit card info (which in itself is a commonly used procedure in many legit free offers) and b) don't seem to allow registrants to modify nameservers (for some real hosting) but only forwarding or a "One-Page Mini-Site" hosted at NameSecure. Correct me if I'm wrong.

In short, that the original poster did not respond to your e-mail enquiry or post again here does not automatically constitute fraud nor this thread deserves going to the trash bin.

Warning! OK this is the kindof stuff I was worried about. Just got this email after registering my only 25 free infos at namesecure.com Looks like I'm one of the "legitimate" customers that got "caught in that situation" and they don't have the means to fix it? They hit me for $15 a name even after the receipt showed $0 to be charged. Looks like a scheme to me.

Our system believes that you have already registered free .info domain names and therefore charged you for these. The system we have in place to check if someone has ordered 25 free .info domains is in place to keep people from opening extra accounts and try to register more domains. Unfortunately some legitimate customers get caught in this situation. We do not have any way to correct it at this time. So, what we can do is give you a refund and remove those domains or you can keep the domains but the charge will remain. Let me know what you want to do.

Now I needed those names for a project. They were picked out long ago and still available, so I thought why not. Now my choices are either pay the $15 each, or risk losing them when they "remove" them after my refund.

Oh no, what kind of "system" is that?? So just because this is a free offer, then they can provide second-rate service, by putting legitimate customers in this "unfortunate" situation? If I read it correctly, they are basically taking back their free offer.
