I received an unsolicited offer for 101.net - $15k, last month. Reasonable price, too low, too high?

worth negotiating to see if they will go higher, I personally would try for at least $20k but maybe that's just me!

I totally agree... if the person is serious they aren't going to run away cause you tried to negotiated, you should be able to come back to the 15k offer at the very least...

plus if you just say yes you take a chance of them second guessing they offer'd too much and they might back step... I would try for a bit more, and try to close it somewhere above the 15k offer. JMO, Good Luck

Guys,

When I said take it and run I mean you start the negotiation and close the sale as quick as you can. Sometimes if you accept the offer right away, the buyer will be scare and back out.

No one can have a best suggestion without knowing all the details.

Two months ago I got an offer $1K for a lousy (according to resellers from forums) 3 letter dot us. I ended up sold for $2K in 2 hours. I paid the reseller price $62 right here on this forum.

Luck don't come twice and you need to grab it when the opportunity comes.

No, I was a dumbass and didnt feel like selling at 15k... 20k and I would have bitten. Now a month later, I've run into a great investment opportunity for 20k, and this would pay for it. Of course, he's not returning my email.

Rule number one is never chase the offer, right? Sent the guy an email to restart the negotiations but didnt hear back, so the lead is dead.

I've got a few broker friends who are putting out their feelers, it's probably going to go this month. For how much, we shall see.

You can always chase the offer, but don't expect the offer to start again at the same level.

Perhaps the other party has already moved on and picked another suitable domain.

101.net is great domain, but, 15K for this domain was fair offer, I think.
Luck don't come twice and you need to grab it when the opportunity comes.
Unless you have great domain to begin with.
However, I would have extra $xxx, xxx if I did not lose these lucks by being greedy

Not promoting or anything but when you have a potential sale like this. You need to act on it fast, get on the phone and don't be afraid. I promote the phone in deals like this..

unless the domain was making a considerable amount of revenue, then imo the offer was too high.

I would take the money and run before they change their mind.

exactly, greed is a mutha...

there are ways to accept an offer on the spot, without sounding so frantic and make the potential buyer rethink their bid.

if i were you, i'd put it back in the vault and wait.

Well...I think 101.net is a great name and I could see 15k - what does not make sense to me is that they are now ignoring you after 1 month. I could see if the offer was a year ago when people still had cash...but to put up that kind of an offer and not get back??? Sounds like the offer was not that strong in the first place.

I Personally think "101" is one of the stronger number combinations - mainly for the infinite amount of subdomain possibilities...so I do not think the offer was too high...most likely pretty fair for someone with development plans. Now if it is for a reseller - I think about 5-7k. So did you want this to be an appraisal thread really ? ;)

HI

Shame I would have taken the 15k if I owned it... after all it is a .net and the economy right now is not the best...
