The new (Dec. 2) Domain Sales report is out at Domain Name Journal. Very interesting week despite the long Thanksgiviing holiday weekend in the States.

Five different extensions are represented in the Top Ten this week, .com (of course), .net. .org, .info and .co.uk. Noticeable by their absence this week was .de.

The #1 domain was from the adult field and prompted a clairification of what our future policy will be on those domains (as detailed in the article).

One of the Top Ten sales was transacted here at DNForum.com and another significant DNF sale is also part of the story.

It's becoming old hat for .info, but that extension took every slot on the new TLD chart again.

Here is the link - hope you find the info useful:

Awesome as always Duke! :-D

"but we will not be collecting data from that category in the future."

I don't agree with leaving out adult names just because they are adult names. I don't think you would be telling the full picture if you didn't include these names in future reports. Why not do something like afternic does? Instead of listing the name, just include a link that says "Adult Name" & whomever wants to find out the name can click the link & then that listing will turn into the name or something.. I'm sure you could do that with javascript or something; this way, all names get included that usually would have & the people that don't wish to see these names, don't!

Just my .02!

Interesting solution Cyphix - that could work. I will give that some serious consideration. The problem I see is that if the material is only a link away - anyone (including underaged visitors) can still access it easily which some again will not think a mainstream publication should be providing access to. Cashbox magazine (major entertainment trade paper) does not provide sales data on adult movies for some of the reasons I outlined in the article. This is true in other industries as well.

yep, duke is right. Nobody wants underage people like me watching porn :)

Hell, I'm blocked from the adult domain discussion for another 6 months LOL.

I think it's good though, mr w. and duke are right

Good point Duke! Whatever decision you make the report will still rock! :)
