Submitting your website to search engines and directories is the first step to getting noticed. It also helps you build one-way quality links that are important for your rankngs in search results.

1. Major search engines like Yahoo and Google usually find you through backlinks but you
can still submit your URL. The major search engines/directories are:
- Yahoo/AltaVista (add URL)
- MSN (add URL)
- Google/AOL (add URL)
- Dmoz (add URL); usually takes an eternity to get listed.

2. Other search engines & directories:
- use our FreeSubmit.org to submit to 160+ search engines and directories.
- add your site to free-to-submit directories here.

3. Spamming
- submit your site to directories gradually, on a scheduled basis. Certain search engines
view a sudden surge of backlinks as spamming and may ban you from their results.

4. Create a template
- create a simple template for repeated submissions, using Notepad.exe. Follow the
same guidelines we listed in Meta Tags for title, description and keyword length.

5. Get a disposable email account
- certain directories require email confirmation and they normally end up sending
hundreds of marketing emails a day to you, e.g. FFA networks.

In my opinion, You should manually submit your site to search engines. This way you cn be sure that your site is in all the big search engines.

I would submit to all the major SE.
( if this is not needed or is harmful why would google, msn ect have submission forms?)
