I've had my forum up for a while now, still young, on about 1500 members and around 10,000 posts. Its a motorcycle site, and specific to one bike inparticular so it will take a while for it to grow grossly huge.

The site is always slow loading, and members complaint of it being slow, I'm running a owned VB licensed forum software, its pretty highly mod'd, but I would not think that should cause such a lag on the site. I am thinking I need a better host. I'm not paying much for hosting now, around $5 or $6 per month.

Anyone have any ideas that I can look into?

Thanks

Are you on a shared hosting plan? Well probably the slow site is due to shared hosting. It may be that the hosting plan you are on does not have enough umph for your site, and you see it slow down during times of greater traffic. Try to contact your hosting company for help.

or use VPS hosting instead, less users sharing one server. :)

I would just find out where good performing forums are currently hosted...one way is to look at their name servers :)
