I just did a search for Adsense here, and saw an older thread from the late summer of 2003. There was a fair bit of questioning as to whether Adsense would survive and how Adwords advertisers would react to content sites being used as a vehicle for the contextual advertising system.

So, are who here is using Adsense - we certainly are on many (the majority) of our clients' sites and are quite satisfied with it. Obviously, the Adsense TOS clearly prohibit discussion of CPC, CTR or pretty much any sort of details, but suffice it to say that it has outperformed just about all other monetization methods on about 90% of the sites we own or manage.

Anyone else here an Adsense publisher? Thoughts from Adwords advertisers (we are one as well) about your performance over the last 7-8 months since Adsense was launched?

I tried them out and wasn't completely happy with the amount I was making so now I'm giving another route a shot and we'll see how that does.

What other route you will recommend?

What type of sites were you running Adsense on - were they properly prepared for optimal Adsense ads? Did you switch to another program such as Quigo, or directly run your own program..?

I was running adsense on www.epasture.com and have since switched to Amazon. I've only been on Amazon for about 2 days so I'll update everyone again in a month or so.

AdSense does OK for me, but I am finding traditional advertising (CPM, CPC) has given me more consistent and larger results. But then with frequency caps and position limitations and so forth it's better for me to use both (and some affiliate stuff too) instead of just one or the other.

Of course the topics of the sites you run have a huge impact on the kind of money AdSense (and affiliates and so forth) can get you. Most of the advertisers that pop up for me from Google just aren't paying that much.

If you combine adsense with other advertiser in the same page, you are in violation of their TOS. Check it out.
