We signed today & will utilize this 'lost leader' to obtain newletter/membership signup's..

this company (which appears to be quite large)
allows the affiliate sites to GIVE AWAY FREE
CELLULAR phone / hands free / headsets.

* consumer only pays shipping $7 & some odd change.

This IS WELL BELOW the avg. $20 in the cellular
shoppes.

* it's a great lost leader, and it pays $2 per headset
you GIVE AWAY.
monthly commission paid out.

* so, if your site is getting 1500 daily visitors.. and you can
GIVE AWAY headpones to 25% of this daily traffic..

That's 375 headset giveaways X $2 = $750 DAILY

if you low balled the #'s.. and only earned
$500 daily X 30 days = $15K montly X 12mths = $180K

$180K is damn good income,
for no work..
AND GIVING A VALID
MASSIVE NEEDE PRODUCT
AWAY.

wanda, do you have statistics to back up these incredible conversion rates?

25% is a very high figure for conversions on a program where visitors have to send *any* kind of money - even for s & h. i think you'll get much less than that in usage.

for most general domain holders, some kind of search based traffic conversion is usually best.

Ideally, a text link based program will do better than a search box on its own.

programs like targetwords.com, textlinks.com and then moving on to goclick (but hearing some bad things about these) findwhat.com (who i use and they pay on time every time) and oingo/overture.

the nice thing with search affils is that they can convert virtually any type of traffic - so you don't need to second guess the nature of a persons visit and they can derive benefit from your site.

on top of that, it can be very good revenue compared to most other converters.

 25%? Very optimistic don't you think? I woiuld have thought the convertion rate would be in the fraction of a percentage point.

the math is easy.. they pay out $2 per headset you give away.
If your site gets 1500 visitors (unique) daily & you were able to
give away headphones to only 15% of your visitors.
1500 X 15% = 225 sets given away X $2 = $450 daily commission.
$450 daily X 30 days mth avg. = $13,500 monthly.
$13,500 mth X 12 mths = $162,000 annual from this one affiliate program.

conversion example above is 15% (yae that might be high) but you got to consider
a) the product
b) the end user.

* billions of cellular phones in service today.
* millions of auto accidents due to cellular phone detering the drivers attention
* auto insurance in some cases is higher without cellular hands free device.

the product serves masses of people. Thats one reason I think it's a good affiliate program to try. We'll see.

the prob is it is not a free transaction for the visitors. their having to pay $7 is the barrier to high conversion rates - as is the number of visitors who already have one or have no interst in having one.

Well, they sell like hotcakes at the cellular shops for at least $20bucks. This program offers headsets for every make & model of cell phone. The affiliate registration cost nothing... they allow you to market how you wish ie: make your own banners, use some of their text links.. so, the affiliate really has nothing to loose, no cost to set up. I'de spend $7 on a product I needed, which would cost me time & effort to go to the cellular shoppe to buy.. just my opinion.

Guest
right, so your conversion level is really the number of people from the 1,500 who are actively looking to go to a cell shop and purchase one. If they are in that situation, then the $7 vs $20 might be a good deal for them (if they trust the site to deliver).

But, unless your 1,500 visitors were super qualified, it will be a small percentage that are in the exact position needed to get the conversion.

Guest
well, the company must be selling a bunch of them.. cause I also read that they "Limit" the # of sets per order/household to 5. I thought that was an interesting clause.. Guess families buy multi unites (kids, folks etc)

Guest
wanda, in think the basic flaw in what your are suggesting is that no affiliate known to man has ever been able to convert at rate your are suggesting. To convert and 1% of the rate you quote would be a good result.

And here's the latest articles on the LAW's about driving while using a cellular.. laws are CHANGING... the wireless will be REQUIRED.. interesting read from this site.

unamimous board decision on behalf of GNM services Corp. direction with the handsfree sets..
We too believe they should be TOTALLY TO THE CUSTOMER..

So, our approach will be to use this 'lost leader' as an intro to
a marketing campaigne such as

"Gift with purchase"

If the customer purchases our goods (equipment) or services.. then they will rec' a FREE CELLULAR HEADSET
@ GNM will take the hit of $5 ($7-our $2 comm) = $5 total out of pocket..
but we will have gained a customer, hopefully for life..
and that in itself, pays for our overhead cost of the headsets..

Has anyone had luck/success in an affiliation with the med industry, allowing the affiliate to earn %commissions from the sale of viagra & other niche drugs?

It is my understanding, that an agressive affiliate can do very well in regards to Aff.Income through such click throughs.

We do not have Drug sale banners/links/sites , but are considering the Viagra opportunity. This drug is a success story in it'self.. the amt. of money this Co. is making is unbelievable.

So, was curious, if anyone had luck with this type of affiliate program

Hmmmm...Cellular phone accessory affiliate programs, Viagra affiliate programs, etc., etc., etc...It's becoming clear that discussions about categories of OR even individual companies affiliate programs are worthy of their own threads...

And since we can't post sub-threads here as I'd hoped, Why don't you go ahead and start a new thread called Viagra Affiliates, Wanda, instead of trying to tag it on the end here.

Actually, 'Affiliate Programs' by itself is worthy of Forum status. There are lots out there and lots to discuss about them. Maybe you should post a poll about it, I'd vote for it.

i couldn't find a more worthy place to post it.. this is the only place these aff'l programs fit. I"m not certain, I understand your message.
