So far this month I have got 80 hits to my site from Google on a specific subject that offers an affiliate deal to advertise their services, do you think thats enough hits to stick a banner on the page in question? Or not worth it?

Why use a banner? Text links convert better! Depends on the topic and or product and how good the conversions rates of the affiliate program you pick are.
