Hello,

For the last 24 months, I've been chasing for the best deal on domain registration, and it is frequent for me to change registrar when renewal time comes.

However, yesterday, I've transfered 2 .tv registered in 2005, and I've noticed that the "Created" date is now 20 October 2010 !!! :)

I've never noticed that issue.

Is it due my new registrar ? the extension ?

Anyone else notice this issue ?

Thanks

I am not sure about .TV extension, but it does not impact .com/.net domains

Thx Katherine. Very interesting. I am getting my Whois Data from Domaintools, and the "Created date" is different from the link you provided.

I am reassured :)

Thanks a lot

What you're seeing is the whois output from the registrar, the true creation date can be found by querying the registry.
For example, some registrars like Enom will consider the creation date to be the date the domain was transferred to them, or was added to their records.

Even on DomainTools, you can see original creation date.
Just click on "Registration" tab.
