Good, do it.

Stupid kids who don't know anything, and can't make their own sites so they ruin other people's...

Hopefully everything will work out for you Eric.

Best of luck from me.

Yes, "etab" started sites like examp.com, which didn't last for mroe than 10 minutes. Jealousy.

FTP password from a month ago? Why not make a temp FTP password for others to use when they need to do work and delete it afterwards? Or change the password if someone was sharp enough to give it to someone else? Just a thought

We trusted someone who we shouldn't have, simple mistake alot of people make on the interenet.

I knew he was bad news :P

Yea, hopefully it all turns out good.

A disgruntled moderator who had FTP access to the site from a month ago the site "hacked" the main page and also deleted the entire forum database. The site was completely down for the past 4 days, but the seller put up a new version for me today, starting from scratch. The problem is that the only reason I bought the site was because it already had 900+ members with 11,000 postings, so right now its value is $0 to me. But, hopefully people will repost to the the site and it will work out ok.

is this sold now or what?

Yes, it is sold. I would be willing to sell it though if you are interested. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested.

erm if its sold i dont see how i could buy it. Looking at the recent hack i'm not interested anyway sorry mate.

If you aren't interested why do you even ask if it has been sold?

This thread is destined to live on forever..time to take it off my subsciption list.

I am SO glad I didn't buy this site. I even mentioned early on about the members being questionable and wishing to "hack" things just for kicks.

Good luck to the new owner but with all those posts lost and the site hacked...I feel bad for the guy. My habit is to always get a local backup asap on ANY site purchase...if anything goes wrong then at least I have it from the day of purchase. Shame on you buyer for not having a backup.

It was hacked a few hours after I bought it. I had not even been given all the login info for the site (like the ssh login) at that point. Anyhow, you can close this thread.

I think he meant to say "Shame on you SELLER for not having a backup."

Hmm, you shouldn't talk when you don't know all the details. Actually I backed up the site every other day. I have a folder with over 50 recent backups. So yeah, I DID have a backup, its just that the entire database was deleted and it was impossible to backup.

Also, is this the longest thread in DNForum history? If so, I feel special.

It is certainly not impossible to backup the entire database. When people make backups of a site, they also usually backup the database.

- Eric

I backed up the entire site, you can try to install that backup. I have already tried, and it didn't work. I think the forums look better now anyways.

The DB is the site..without the DB the site is of less value. I only backup DBs on sites like that because you can always reinstall whatever forums software...but the DB is your members, posts, and passwords.

Someone lock this already please.

Labrocca, They have really torn up your sale.
