So I got jipped apparently.

I got a domain appraisal at the request of my client from:

allfordomain.com

This person gave me this link: http://domaintalk.ourplace.com/Archive/35086.htm

And said that they would only trust one of the reputable company in that fourm.

So I picked the one that was fastest in service (not cheapest mind you)

Which quite honestly, I have been buying and selling domain names since 2003, and this one is very accurate.

After asking for an appraisal here, and not getting anything in regards to an appraisal: http://www.dnforum.com/f4/contractrequest-com-110413.html#post650892

I went ahead and purchased the appraisal

And I got my appraisal:

http://www.allfordomains.com/appraisal.asp?Domain=contractrequest.com

Now after going into chat, and asking people about my appraisal. Everyone says that this company allfordomains is a scam.

This is probably so. I scaned the internet for a minute, and found that these people were known for scams years ago.

Anyone else want to complain about them?

This is also what they said:

Thank you. Let's wait for the results. I also asked about other reputable
appraisal companies. Several people recommended me NetSol.com and
DomainMart.com. I may accept appraisals from these companies too.

However, if your budget does not allow you to preform a second appraisal
I'll do it myself. I will obtain an appraisal from another independent
source. But I will not send this certificate to you, because you may use
this appraisal to promote your name or sell it to somebody else. Two
independent appraisals will give us a better feeling of what your name is
really worth.

the best thing to do is get appraisals here.
if you do not get a repsonse here (and that doesnt necessarily mean your domain isnt worth anything), you have to go by experience, and luck.
I would avoid any so called pro appraisal companies, even sedo's (which is probably more trustworthy though).

There was once a time that I got an appraisal.

I sold www.whynyc.com on ebay, and I got a cheap $15 appraisal from somewhere.

When I listed it, I figured that my audience wouldn't be domain savvy for the most part. So I bought the appraisal, and posted it on the auction.

Within 6 hours, my buy it now of $1000 was met, I received the money, and there was no problem.
Although the guy held on to the domain for a year, and lost it (no renewel) and did nothing with it.

I missed grabbing it up too.

But in anycase, a domain appraisal hasn't been all bad for me in the past, the only other time I did one.

But, that was in 2003. Since then, I haven't done an appraisal.

The only reason why I did one this time, is because I REALLY need to come up with some $$, which is why I am even selling these domains in the first place.

But, it looks like I probably got had.

So how about an appraisal for: www.ContractRequest.com now?

Please. =)

unfortunately I dont think it is worth very much undeveloped.
Now, from what I see, you have a developed site. It needs more development and some tweaking as well as some activity to gain value (your top links result in errors), I also think think the name and the content do not match very well as a contract can be for anything, yet you are targetting a specific market.
as is now, I would say mid $xxx.
the competition is tough, and the name although not bad, it is not great either.
onece developed more (and better) the price would go higher IMHO.

oh yeah, sorry to say but you got scammed

best of luck on finding a buyer - I would value it at high $xx or low $xxx, more if it was better developed with traffic

Thanks for your input.

As for undeveloped vs. developed.

Here is my opinion. Someone changes the banner, they have a site for basicly any kind of contract that they want.

But. With hurricane Katrina, being one of the "worst disasters the US has ever seen" GWB.. I think contract brokering will be much more valuable now.

So I think that the domain in and of itself is worth quite a bit.

Two key words: Contract & Request

Both very popular in search engines.

Plus it's a .com, no numbers, no hyphens.

Anyway. Those are my thoughts.

--------------------------------

UPDATE:

I did fix the backlinks that had errors. Thanks for pointing those out.

And, I made the site more universal. I changed the layout and appearance of the site.

I also purchased some links on a few PR4 & PR5 sites for ContractRequest.com

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOU ADVICE! I appreciate it more than you know.

:)
