URL: http://www.allthemags.com
Age of site (months): 4
Monthly revenue: 322.25
Reason for Selling:
All information that is listed below is from the previous listing of this site, which can be found at http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=293084&highlight=allthemags.com. (some modifications made in reference to domain location and sell information) I have not touched the site since purchasing, everything is the same. (no traffic/sales stats since taking over the site either)
I picked up this site because it was a great deal, but unfortunately I am not ready to take on another project at this time. If anyone can make better use of this site, I will make the sale... if not I will hold on to this one and work on it later. I was thrilled to win this site, but just do not have the time and resources at the moment. I will also pay for the setup/transfer of the site to your server is needed.
Revenue details:
Total revenue made from the website is approximately $1289.81.
There are several other sales that were made in Paypal which I did not
count in this figure (our customers prefer 2Checkout over Paypal in 99% of
the cases).
See this link for a screenshot of revenue in 2Checkout (Don't pay attention
to the last sale on the page, as this was a test with a live card):

Also, see this link for a screenshot of revenue as described at OsCommerce:

http://www.allthemags.com/images/oscommerce_screenshot_orders2.gif
Monthly page views: 7984.2
Traffic details:
The former owner brought traffic mostly from listings at Google Adwords, and postings at online forums with related topics.
Traffic stats for July seems to be incomplete (traffic stats were given to us from the former owner), and so possibly the Average monthly pageviews are slightly higher than reported.
For April to July traffic stats, as well as referrers, see this excel file provided to us by the former owner:
http://www.allthemags.com/allthemags.xls
For August traffic stats, see this link:
http://www.allthemags.com/images/Awstats_screenshot_august.gif
Our company focuses all efforts on Google Adwords with all of our projects, and hence generated all traffic & revenue during August through Google and
its partner sites. We did not bid on any general keywords (e.g. "magazines" "buy magazines" "magazine subscriptions" etc.), but rather on specific keywords relating to specific magazines.
Description:
The site sells magazine subscription through an online clearing house /
fulfillment agency. Site is currently stocked with 778 different titles,
completely updated to the most current sub-rates (lowest rates allowed
for sale by publisher).
Average profit on a magazine title (Revenue minus Cost Per Magazine
yearly Subscription through subscription agency) is $13.72
We will be adding an additional 470 Magazines (approximately) to our
database before handing the site to the new owner, so you wouldn't have
to worry about maintenance for the near future. (the site now has 1192 magazine titles listed on the site)
Time it takes to run the site:
* 2-5 minutes per day processing orders (possibly more if you
experience a large amount of customers in one day).
* 5-15 minutes per week processing price updates & adding new
titles (through EasyPopulate @ Oscommerce - very quick) for your titles,
that you receive from your subscription agency.
* The site tends to generate little to no support inquiries in a given
week. Average time for handling support inquiries so far has been 5
minutes per week (on average, less than 1 inquiries per week is what we
have experienced).
Our company's attitude towards business projects is to first experiment
with a small amount of advertising, improve the website and sales process
in the best way possible, and only then start with the major advertising
campaigns.
Unfortunately (or rather, fortunately) we have become very occupied with
a larger (and extremely demanding) project, and therefore must sell this
one before we had the chance to properly market it.
The buyer receives a website with several improvements over the general
OsCommerce templates. Most improvements were made using existing
OsCommerce contributions. Some of the improvements include:
1) The addition of a retail (cover) price for the magazines, as well as
a "You save: $XX (YY%)".
2) Total simplification of the checkout process, to remove the need
for the following pages:
Creating an account / logging in (If you know OsCommerce, you know how
this promotes shopping cart abandonment, including the visitor having to
click the "continue" button after creating their account, etc.), shipping
address page, billing address page.
All of the checkout has been rolled into one page, where the visitor
selects their preferred payment method, fills in their billing address,
and also their shipping address if different.
3) Slight touches to the OsCommerce header, and right & left columns,
mainly to remove unnecessary elements that destract your buyer.
4) Slight changes to the magazine info page (product_info.php) to
increase conversion.
The only step we did not perform yet, is to create a good cross-selling /
upselling system. The former owner had it setup, and as you can see his
average order size was larger than ours (look at past months' orders).
The domain is at namecheap.com - get an account there and we will easily push the domain to you. Registered through 01 Sep 2006.
There is a $50 setup charge for setting up an account with the clearing
house, but this fee does not go to waste - it is used to pay for the
first few subscriptions ($50's worth) you sell. We will incur this charge in the
form of deducting it from your purchase price if website is bought at BIN.
Price (or starting bid): 1500.00
Buy It Now: 1700.00
(BIN INCLUDES: Free Domain Push and I will have someone set this up on your server if needed)
Is an auction?: No
